Dr. Isteaq Ahmed is a board-certified Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine physician and is fellowship-trained in Addiction Medicine at Hartford Hospital and Yale-affiliated programs. He serves as Medical Director at The Recovery Village at Columbus, where he leads inpatient medical services for individuals receiving treatment for substance use disorders and mental health conditions.
Dr. Ahmed advanced from Associate Medical Director to Medical Director, providing continuity of leadership within the inpatient program. In his role, he oversees clinical care delivery, supervises medical providers, and ensures patients receive safe, evidence-based treatment during detoxification and residential care. His clinical expertise includes withdrawal management for alcohol, opioid, and benzodiazepine use disorders, as well as the management of complex medical and psychiatric co-morbidities.
Known for a patient-centered and compassionate approach, Dr. Ahmed works closely with nursing, psychiatry, and pharmacy teams to support individualized treatment plans and promote continuity of care throughout the recovery process. He is committed to maintaining high clinical standards while fostering a supportive environment that prioritizes patient safety, dignity, and long-term recovery.
Dr. Ahmed was recognized with the Legendary Caregivers Award for providing exceptional patient care. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, spending time with his family, and following Premier League soccer.
