Inpatient Mental Health Treatment in Columbus

Our Columbus residential mental health care treatment center can help you develop a strong foundation for your mental health, away from the stressors and triggers that exist in daily life at home.

What Is Inpatient Mental Health Rehab?

Inpatient rehab allows patients to fully concentrate on overcoming their mental health challenges while residing at our expert treatment facility. Our subacute treatment program is designed for voluntary patients who need residential psychiatric support, but aren’t an immediate harm to themselves or others. Patients receive a tailored treatment plan designed to meet their unique needs, which includes one-on-one and group therapy sessions with licensed therapists, medication management, and recreational spaces for art, sports and relaxation.

Is inpatient rehab right for me?

Selecting a program that meets your needs is vital to effective treatment and lasting recovery. Our subacute inpatient mental health program may be a good fit for you if:

Inpatient Mental Health FAQs

How long is your mental health rehab program?

The length of stay in an inpatient mental health program will depend upon your specific needs. Usually, patients complete their full residential stay in two to four weeks.

To achieve long-lasting and effective recovery, it’s important to remain in treatment as medically suggested. We strongly encourage you to stay in your program until it is complete. However, you can leave the facility at any time, even against medical advice.

Yes, patients who have finished their stay at an acute level of mental health care at a different facility and wish to receive additional support before transitioning to life in the community are welcome at our subacute residential treatment program.

On your first day in treatment, case managers begin preparing for your graduation. They’ll connect you to outpatient therapy programs and mental health resources in your community so you’ll always have access to the support you require.

Dual diagnosis treatment can treat both substance use and mental health disorders at the same time. During admission, our medical team will assess your needs and recommend either the mental health or substance misuse track. While in our mental health program, you’ll undergo a medical detox for substance use and then receive additional group therapy sessions about addiction while staying in our mental health wing.

If substance misuse is your primary need, you’ll undergo medical detox and then enter the inpatient rehab program, living with other people recovering from addiction. Your mental health diagnosis will be addressed within those levels of care.

Many inpatient programs, including The Recovery Village Columbus, accept health insurance. Your plan may cover some or all of the costs of inpatient rehab. Private pay options may be available if you do not have insurance coverage. To verify your insurance benefits, please visit our insurance page; we are in network with most local and national health insurance providers.

The law offers protection if you take time off from work for behavioral health needs. The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) allows you to take time off from work, and keep your job if you seek mental health treatment from a healthcare provider. Only some people qualify for FMLA.

Mental health disorders can interfere with your ability to care for your children. While there is no guarantee regarding child custody, in most cases, you are less likely to lose custody of your children if you seek mental health treatment and successfully recover. Many parents work out arrangements in which a relative cares for their children while they are in rehab.

How Dual Diagnosis Can Help

For many people, self-medicating their mental health condition with drugs or alcohol can provide temporary relief but worsen their symptoms over time. If you’re struggling with a mental health disorder and an addiction, treating both at the same time is key to a successful recovery.

Many behavioral health facilities only offer one or the other. The licensed professionals at The Recovery Village Columbus can not only treat both, but they’ll also help you understand the relationship between your conditions for more holistic healing.

Our Facility

The Recovery Village Columbus Drug, Alcohol and Mental Health Rehab offers a comfortable, home-like environment so you can focus on healing your mental health. Alongside a full suite of amenities, patients will also have opportunities for indoor and outdoor recreation.

The Recovery Village Village is an amazing place that provided me with a real opportunity to change my life for the better. If you are ready for change, the staff at RVC will go above and beyond to help you achieve your goals. RVC has THE BEST peer support in the field! Luke is the soul of this facility and works miracles for the clients on a daily basis. This place wouldn’t be the same without his kindness and dedication to helping others enter recovery. Judy and Jordan were also always willing to go above and beyond to provide me with the support and tools that i needed to make life-long changes so i can be the best version of myself. I can’t say enough good things about this facility and its staff. If you take the first step and ask for help, RVC will help take you the rest of the way. Thank you all so much for the love and support that i needed to get where i am today! With love, “Scooter” Bill Rhinehart

The Columbus Recovery Village was a "God send" for me! The 21 days I spent there gave me sense of being and purpose. The staff there was/is outstanding, and always willing to assist the residents with their needs. It's as if the staff "walks the road of recovery" with you. Thank you Recovery Village for all you do! Oh, and a special thanks to "Scooter Bill" for believing in me.

I am still astonished by the level of professionalism, the staff and facilities. Most rehabs are a revolving door full of people who don’t want to be there , recovery village is the opposite. The staff truly cares for the patients, the facility is clean and well maintained even the food was decent. Everyone from the techs all the way to the ceo (whom I met with briefly on my discharge date ) are top rate , friendly and actually helpful. I highly recommend this place to anyone seeking help with addiction, I honestly can’t think of a single thing that went badly…ok maybe the pillows, the pillows were kinda lame ;).

Not a day goes by that I don't think about the time I spent at Recovery Village. I'm currently 228 days sober. The entire staff was amazing. At no time did I feel like I was in my battle alone. I would love to return and volunteer, and tell my story. As I said before. You will not find a better staff to help you. I was able to learn something from each counselor. The BHT'S were also amazing. Recovery Village. Thank you for a better life. If I can ever give back. Please let me know!!!

Overall a very positive experience. I have stayed at the recovery village for two months. When I first got here I was unhappy and hearing 45 days felt like a lifetime. 30 seemed impossible, and now here I am at two months and 3 days. The environment is safe, people want to be here. There’s no arguing, support and a lot of help. I went through the oasis program and then did php as well. It can be scary to commit to the change but I found it worth it. If it’s trauma, addiction, whatever you struggle with they have what you need. The main complaints I have heard or had was you do have tape on your phone so FaceTime isn’t available during your stay for Saftey of other clients.. and snacks. Out of all things to consider, not a major deal. They will help you with therapy, education, and meds. I did feel finding sober living after was difficult for me and a few others. You can have care packages dropped off, family/friend visits as well as Amazon orders. Great connections you can make and I’d like to emphasize again, the people here want to get help. But overall this experience saved my life. I wouldn’t have stayed this long if it didn’t and I never expected it to. There activities like art, bon fire, trivia, yoga things to look forward to. You’re worth it, the time is worth it and I hope anyone who reads this chooses themselves. It’s okay to be selfish and again. YOU ARE WORRH IT! You got it! Thank you for all the kindness, patience, love and support I’ve been givin during my stay. Sure there’s discomfort and sacrifices, but your sobriety and mental health is far more important. We need you and you matter! Recovery village truly saved my life. Would recommend to anyone.

One of my biggest regrets was not staying at recovery village longer. This probably sounds like a paid advertisement, but every step of the way they were great. I’ve been to several facilities and I most highly recommend recovery village Columbus

I don’t even know where my family would be without this place. My brother struggled with addiction for years, and we had reached a point where we were scared we were going to lose him. This rehab center didn’t just help him get sober; they gave him his life back. From the very beginning, the staff treated him with respect, patience, and genuine care. They didn’t make him feel judged or like he was just another number. They took the time to understand him, not just his addiction. The therapists, medical team, and support staff all worked together to build a plan that actually helped him heal. The nursing manager, Amber, was by far the most amazing person in my brother’s corner. Amber was compassionate and understanding but set boundaries and held him accountable when he tried to press the boundaries. She did not hesitate to call him out on a way that was not triggering or upsetting to him. She has a way of interacting with people that just makes her special, as does most of the staff at RVC. During is inpatient stay, the staff supported our family too, kept us informed, and helped us understand what he was going through. Recovery isn’t easy, but they gave him the tools, structure, and support he needed to keep going even on the hardest days. Today, my brother is healthy, present, and living a life we honestly weren’t sure he’d get to have. And my family has him back too. If you’re on the fence about getting help for yourself or someone you love, this place is the real deal. They don’t just treat addiction — they help rebuild lives. It literally started with me making one call asking them to help my brother. They took over from there and kept following up, until my brother had finally had enough. Forever grateful.

Unfortunately I've been to multiple treatment centers, but this was by far the best place I've ever been. I'm hoping that this will have been my last time in treatment, but that's because it was the most beneficial place I've ever been. I can't say enough good about RVC and their staff. Mel changed my life but all of the staff was wonderful. I hope to be able to work for a place like this someday!
