What Is Inpatient Rehab?

Inpatient rehab, also called residential treatment, is a highly structured, intensive level of addiction treatment. Clients live at the facility, away from drugs or alcohol, and receive evidence-based treatment from licensed professionals throughout the day. Inpatient rehab helps you focus 100% on your recovery to give you the tools you need to stay sober.

FAQs About Inpatient Rehab

How long is inpatient rehab?

The time it takes to complete rehab varies depending on the person’s behavioral health needs and substance use history. Our inpatient rehab programs typically last 10–21 days after a medical detox period. Most clients complete their medical detox and inpatient rehab programs in 30 to 45 days.

Leaving treatment early often leads to relapse and overdose, so we always encourage clients to complete their treatment plan in full. However, clients may leave treatment, even against medical advice, at any time as long as they are not a danger to themselves or others.

Yes, many people have started their lifelong recovery journey with inpatient addiction treatment. While there is no “cure” for someone with a substance use disorder, recovery is possible. We consider inpatient rehabilitation successful based on improvements to our client’s physical and mental health, employment or educational status, relapse time, safety and legal status and relationships with loved ones.

After completing an inpatient treatment program, many patients continue their treatment in an outpatient setting. For patients seeking Ohio addiction treatment, we offer a partial hospitalization program, which can be a suitable step-down option after completing an inpatient program.

Regardless of what program you choose after inpatient treatment, it’s important to participate in aftercare programming. Aftercare services provide continued support through counseling, referrals and recovery resources after you complete rehab. At our Ohio drug rehab center, we believe in the importance of aftercare and offer this treatment option.

Attending inpatient treatment will mean leaving your job, at least temporarily, but there are several laws in place that can help protect employees when they attend inpatient rehab.

Insurance may cover some or all of inpatient rehab costs. Without insurance, The Recovery Village Columbus can work with clients to develop a private pay option.
