Dublin residents who need medically supervised detox from alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines or other substances can get it at The Recovery Village Columbus, a Joint Commission–accredited facility in Groveport, roughly 26 miles southeast of Dublin by car. There is no Dublin location. Everyone is treated at the one Groveport campus. To start, call (614) 362-1686 for a confidential assessment and insurance check. Same-day admission may be available when medically appropriate.
Why detox matters for Dublin residents
Dublin is unusual among Columbus suburbs because the city sits in three counties. The City of Dublin says it lies within Franklin, Delaware and Union counties. That matters when you are looking for help, because county crisis lines, public health departments and naloxone programs depend on which side of the county line you live on. Most of Dublin is in Franklin County, but some neighborhoods north of the Franklin County line are served by Delaware County and Union County agencies.
Overdose remains a serious local problem, even though the numbers are falling. According to Franklin County Public Health, 467 Franklin County residents died of an overdose in 2024, and 370 of those deaths involved opioids. In 2023 there were 688. In Delaware County, the Delaware Public Health District’s preliminary 2024 report counted 19 resident overdose deaths. Fentanyl was the substance found most often. For wider trends, see our Ohio overdose statistics page.
Not every detox is about opioids. The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) warns that when someone who has been drinking heavily for a long time suddenly stops, withdrawal can be painful and can even be life-threatening. That is one of the main reasons people choose supervised alcohol withdrawal care over trying to quit alone at home.

Getting from Dublin to our Groveport campus
The facility is at 3964 Hamilton Square Blvd, Groveport, OH 43125. The facility describes the campus as about one mile southeast of I-270. From central Dublin the drive is roughly 26 miles. Most routes pick up I-270 near the Bridge Street/US-33 interchange. From there you can stay on the outerbelt or cut through downtown on I-70 East. Either way, you continue on US-33 southeast to the Hamilton Road (SR 317) exit. Traffic on I-270 and through downtown can change the drive time a lot, so plan for rush hour.
Some practical tips for the trip:
- Don’t drive yourself if you are in withdrawal or intoxicated. Ask a family member or friend to drive, and bring a phone charger and a list of your current medications.
- Call before you leave. Walk-ins are accepted 24/7. Walk-in admission depends on availability, though, and scheduled admissions are prioritized. A quick call from Dublin can save you a long wait.
- Pack light. Belongings are searched at admission, and items that aren’t allowed are stored securely until discharge.
Local crisis and support resources in Dublin
You don’t have to wait until you are admitted to use these resources. Which ones apply depends on your county:
- Franklin County (most of Dublin): The ADAMH Board of Franklin County funds Netcare Access. Its 24/7 crisis line is 614-276-CARE (2273), and it offers crisis and substance use assessment. Franklin County Public Health mails free naloxone and fentanyl test strips to Ohio residents who complete a short online training.
- Delaware County (northern Dublin): The Delaware-Morrow Mental Health and Recovery Services Board directs people in crisis to HelpLine at 1-800-684-2324. The Delaware Public Health District gives out free naloxone at its office at 470 S. Sandusky Street in Delaware. It also runs 24/7 public access points, including a vending machine in the Delaware County Jail lobby.
- Union County (western Dublin): The Mental Health & Recovery Board of Union County, based in Marysville, points residents to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for 24/7 support.
- Anywhere: Call, text or chat 988. The Lifeline says its counselors help with alcohol or drug use concerns as well as mental health crises. If someone is not breathing or can’t be woken, call 911.
What detox looks like at The Recovery Village Columbus
Detox starts with an evaluation by the facility’s 24-hour nursing staff, and patients have 24/7 medical monitoring throughout their stay. The program treats withdrawal from alcohol, heroin, prescription opioids including fentanyl, benzodiazepines, stimulants and sleep medications. For alcohol withdrawal, physicians may use medications such as chlordiazepoxide (Librium), diazepam (Valium) or lorazepam (Ativan), along with supportive medications. How long detox lasts depends on the substance and your health; the medical team will give you an estimate after your evaluation.
The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) notes that withdrawal management alone is not an effective treatment for alcohol use disorder. That is why detox at the Groveport campus connects directly to the next step, which can include residential rehab, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and medication-assisted treatment. The 6.5-acre campus, which opened in 2017, also offers inpatient mental health care for people with co-occurring conditions. Learn more about our medical detox program.
Leaving detox also changes your overdose risk. Public health agencies warn that after a period of not using, such as after detox, tolerance drops. That makes a return to opioid use especially dangerous. Before discharge, ask about naloxone and your ongoing care plan. If you are returning to Dublin, it is worth ordering a free kit from the county programs listed above.
